Guests entering the Magic Kingdom come out from the tunnel under the Walt Disney World Railroad and stride into the turn of the century American Main Street U.S.A. You'll enter the Town Square complete with a City Hall (Guest Services) and a Fire Station. At the Main Street train station for the Walt Disney World Railroad, guests board one of the four steam driven trains for a 1 ½ mile journey around the Magic Kingdom. The trains, "Lily Belle", "Roy O. Disney", "Walter E. Disney" and the "Roger E. Broggie", are authentic steam engines found by Disney in Mexico, brought to the U.S. where they were totally overhauled. The 21 minute expedition is a slow, but relaxing way to get across the park.
As you pass under the Main Street Walt Disney World Railroad station, you will find the "Exposition Hall" on the right. This Camera Centre is a excellent spot to get any camera supplies that you may need. Guests often fail to notice is what lays at the rear the main shop. There are great character cutouts that you are welcome to take some pix with. For pin collectors, there's a select assortment of pins here. You'll also find an assortment of picture frames as well as an assortment of limited products. Adjacent to the Fire Station you'll find "The Harmony Barber Shop". This is a real working barber shop where men and boys cuts are offered. You can also receive a certificate for "Baby's First Haircut" to remember this 'Magical Moment.' Guests looking for a bite to eat will find a numerous choices along and close to Main Street. The table service restaurants in this area are the Plaza Restaurant (sandwiches and burgers), Tony's Town Square and the Crystal Palace (Character buffet).
Every conceivable memento can be found in shops like Chapeau (for monogrammed Mickey ears), Crystal Arts, Disneyana Collectibles, Disney and Company, Disney Clothiers, Emporium, Main Street Athletic Store, Kodak Camera Center, Newsstand, The Shadow Box and Uptown Jewelers. The street ends at the Plaza, or hub of the Magic Kingdom, with the magnificent Cinderella Castle. |
